soy wood wick

Resolutions, resolutions, resolutions.  How many have you made in the past and never kept?  Plan on making some for this new year?  How about the resolution to turn over a healthier lifestyle!  Start it with soy candles.  They burn cleaner and are better for your health.  They produce very little to no soot, are easy to clean up with soap and water, create no toxins in the air, last 50% longer than paraffin candles, and are a renewable resource being made from soybeans.

Jar candles or tins make a lovely addition to any room.  These candles are easy to move from one place to another.  You won’t have to worry about the wax dripping onto a surface.  The candle holder is a part of the package, so no worrying about purchasing a holder.  When the soy candle is all burnt, you have a beautiful container for yet some other use.

If you want a different presentation of a soy candle try a pillar soy candle.  They come in different sizes, so you can make a beautiful arrangement with them on your table.  For a truly creative option, try a chunky soy pillar candle.  They are made using richly scented chunks that are over-poured with scented wax of a complimentary fragrance and color.  These soy candles are a marriage of artistry and fragrance.  The result is a pillar soy candle that is a work of art, visually appealing and aromatically pleasing.  When lit they become even more beautiful as the flame dances behind the multi-colored translucent wax.

Then if you are looking for a smaller version of a pillar, try a soy votive candle.  The up side of burning a votive is you will never get tried of their fragrance.  You can keep trying a new scent often, and find your favorite one.  For elegance, try putting your votive in a beautiful holder and set several around your home, and let their aroma burst forth.

Looking for a flame-less soy candle, try gourmet soy melts.  Just add them to a candle warmer dish, plug it in and let them melt down.  Soy melts come in several fragrances.  Mix and match till you find your favorites.  Remember the warmer dish will clean up with just soap and water.

Aromatherapy soy candles bring the healing power to your mind and body.  These fragrant candles are made with pure essential oils.  Their aromatic fragrance is captivating, beautiful and sensual.  Each one is designed to provide a gourmet aromatherapy soy candle experience.  The powerful scent of orange is held to be invigorating and renewing while lavender has a calming effect.

Soy wood wicks offers a level of ambiance beyond that of traditional soy wax candles that use a cotton wick. The wood wick melts the scented soy wax faster and disperses the soy candle fragrance into the air much quicker.  With a wood wick soy candle you can hear the soothing sound of the organic wood wick, softly crackling as it burns.

Gourmet body massage soy candles will heighten your senses; of touch (as the warm skin-nourishing and moisturizing massage oil is gently massaged into your skin), of sight (by setting the mood with the mesmerizing glow of candlelight) and smell (from its deliciously soft fragrance).  They will ignite your love life, helping to make those special moments even more intimate.  The candle oil is irresistible!  The nutrient rich oils contained in the soy candle will rejuvenate, soften and hydrate your skin.  Along with improving skin resiliency and texture, the massage soy oil blend will leave your skin luxurious, silky smooth and delicately scented.

Try a fragrance oil that is 100% pure and undiluted.  You can add fragrance oil to potpourri or use them in a scent burner.  They are perfect to use in a lamp ring.  Simply pour a small amount of your favorite scent into the lamp ring, set it on top of the light bulb and turn on the lamp.  The heat from the bulb will disperse the scent from the fragrance oil throughout your home.

Whatever your choice of soy candle is, you can’t go wrong.  Mix and match styles, sizes and fragrances for a truly, enjoyable, healthy, soy candle experience.  Happy New Year!

With the holiday shopping almost drawing to an end, it is time to get those presents wrapped and put under the tree.  This year try a new idea.  Instead of using the conventional ribbon and bows, be creative and try a soy votive candle as your bow.  After your wrapping paper is secure around your gift, choose a scented soy votive to accent the package.  You can pick the fragrance that will be liked best by the receiver of your gift.  What a nice surprise, a present along with a present.  Usually those bows just get thrown away, but now that soy votive bow can be put to good use.  Your thoughtfulness can extend into their home and remind them of you!  Just an added flair for yourself, your tree will take on an extra special aroma this year, all those soy votive bows just scenting up for the holidays.

soy votive candle

A tea-light is a smaller version of a votive.  It is wider than it is tall and usually comes in a metal container.  As it burns it liquifies like a votive.  They can be used for warming food, warming tea, for decor, and for religious services.  They can be found scented or unscented.  Most generally they are made from paraffin wax.  They are inexpensive and can be bought in bulk form.

A favorite party of mine growing up as a young adult was a fondue party.  The fondue pot was warmed by tea-lights.  Everyone would bring their pot and into it would go various sauces, like cheese, chocolate, oil.  Then when melted and hot, in would go the goodies on fondue forks for the coating of sauce or cooking of meat.  It was great fun and fellowship.  Fondue pots seem to be a thing of the past.  If you do use one these days it is usually electric, which takes all the fun out of the party.

Soy votive candles are a big sister to tea-lights.  They are taller and wider and of course last even longer.  They also come scented, colored, unscented, and are inexpensive.  In today’s economy it pays to count your pennies.  Using a votive can help you do just that, save money, especially when your votive is made from soy-wax.  They burn 50% longer than a votive made from paraffin wax.  You can find all sorts of holders to display your votive in and enhance your room decor.  With the holidays just around the corner, try one of our holiday fragrances and fill your home with a warm scent of holiday cheer.

Halloween is over and with it the Jack-O’-Lantern, but Thanksgiving is soon to come.  One thing these celebrations have in common is the pumpkin.  The pumpkin is thought to have originated in North America.  References to the pumpkin date back many centuries from Greek, to French, to English, to American.  Its name has undergone many changes as well from the Greek “pepon”, to the French “pompon”, to the English “Pumpion”, to the American colonists name “pumpkin”.  It has been used by the Native American Indians as a staple in their diets long before the pilgrims landed in America.  They used it in making mats from dried pumpkin strips, as well as roasting those strips for food.  Then the pilgrims arrived and found pumpkin becoming a staple in their diet as well.  Pumpkin pie is believed to have found its origin when the colonists filled the carved out shell with milk, spices and honey and baked it in the hot ashes of a dying fire.

A great way to celebrate Thanksgiving is by filling your home with the fresh scent of pumpkin spice.  There are versatile styles of soy container candles, soy votives, soy wood wicks, soy melts and fragrance oils in which to choose the fragrance of pumpkin spice.  Enjoy this Thanksgiving and give thanks for the many blessings in your life.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes Halloween is here.  Maybe you are yet to make your Jack-O’-Lanterns.  Well here are some last minute tips.  Before buying your pumpkin, have in mind the design you want to create and then go find the right size pumpkin to match.  Choose a pumpkin that is uniformly orange, meaning it is ripe.  Be sure there are no bruises, cuts, nicks, dents, gouges, or scratches.  A smooth pumpkin is best for the use of stencils.

Never carry your pumpkin by the stem.  It may break off and make it hard to get the top off when carving.  If the pumpkin you like has no stem or it broke off, don’t despair.  You can simply turn it over and carve the bottom out for the opening.  Simply sit your Jack-O’-Lantern over the light source on the cleaned bottom piece of pumpkin.  This works just as well and you will find that you don’t need the stem for a lid handle.

Now that your pumpkin is carved and that face is ready to be lit up, try the use of a soy votive candle.  They are environmentally friendly and safe for your health use.

With the cooler months just around the corner, I tend to burn more soy wax candles because I am in inside more.  Below are some soy candle safety tips to ensure a safer burn experience in your home.

  • Burn on a heat resistant surface.
  • Keep lit candle out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never leave lit candles unattended.  Keep your lighted candle within sight.
  • Never burn a candle near anything that can catch on fire.
  • Read and follow all manufacturer instructions and warnings carefully.
  • Trim the wick to 1/8 inch each time before burning.
  • Use an appropriate candle holder, that will not tip over accidentally.
  • Keep burning candle away from drafts, vents and air currents.
  • Extinguish if your candle smokes, flickers repeatedly, or the flame becomes too high.  Cool and trim the wick.  Check for drafts and then re-light.
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris.
  • Always burn candles in a well ventilated room.
  • Extinguish the flame if it comes too close to the holder or container.  For a safety margin, stop burning a candle when 2 inches of wax remains, 1/2 inch if in a container.
  • Never touch or move a votive or container candle when the wax is liquid.
  • Extinguish a pillar candle if the wax pool approaches the outer edge.
  • Place lighted candles at least 3 inches apart.

Enjoy the winter months by enhancing your sense of smell, sight, and touch with soy wax candles, soy wood wicks and soy body massage candles.  Happy winter months ahead!

soy candles

My daughter has told me that when you buy a candle the first thing you do is to smell it.  This is very difficult to do when buying online.  It might even stop you from thinking about buying a candle online.  The whole sensory experience is halted.  But there is hope.  Here are some facts to consider in buying your online purchase of candles.

Consider the reasons why you would purchase a candle in the first place.  Is it the wax, type, size, or the scent.  After making these determinations, break it down to these choices.

Wax:  There are many different types and if you have allergies it will influence this choice.  Below are some common types of wax used in making candles.

  1. You can choose candles made from paraffin.  They are the most common type, but even though they are cheap, they are made from petroleum by-products.  Remember paraffin leaves soot build-up in your home and releases carcinogens into the air when burned, like benzene and toluene.  Poor choice for allergies and asthma.
  2. Then you can find a gel candle, also made from petroleum by-products.  Gel is a clear wax and accepts color and fragrance easily.  The wax is so soft however, it needs wick reinforcement and then becomes a health risk.
  3. Now we come to the choice of soy wax.  It is produced from soybeans.  It doesn’t produce soot or carcinogens like petroleum based waxes.  It is also a renewable resource, burns longer than paraffin and is good for allergies and asthma.  Soy candles make a better health choice.

Type:  You can find candles in containers or free standing.  They come in jars of all shapes and sizes, even travel tins.  Then to the free standing ones: pillars, tapers, and votives.  Be sure to consider the color of your candle pick as well.

  1. Does your home have small children or pets that might cause your candle to be a safety consideration.  A candle in a container would be best to prevent splashing, spilling or falling over.  But if a free standing candle is your choice then be sure to keep it out of reach.  Consider also that soy wax washes out with only soap and water and the wax doesn’t burn as hot, so less chance of burns.
  2. What size are you looking for?  Do you want a big one or several small ones, or both?
  3. Then think about the color.  Are you enhancing the room decor or just buying for size and fragrance alone?

Burn Times:  These vary depending on the size of candle and its wick.  A rule to remember is this:

  1. Smaller candles with smaller wicks burn in about 7-9 hours per ounce of wax used.
  2. Larger candles with larger wicks burn faster, about 5-7 hours per ounce of wax used.
  3. Then Soy candles burn longer, due to the lower burn temperature.  They make the best economical choice.

Fragrance:  This is the tricky one.  There is no way to experience the sensory joy of smelling your candle online.

  1. You will have to trust the descriptions offered by the website.
  2. Those people with asthma and allergies consider that the scent is the culprit that starts an episode for them, but it is the wax that is the real trigger.  Soy candle wax doesn’t cause as strong a reaction, even if it is highly scented.  Remember you can find unscented soy wax candles.
  3. What is the fragrance you are after and the reason you would choose it?  The seasons might cause you to make a different choice, like pumpkin spice for Halloween and Thanksgiving, or evergreen for Christmas.  Then maybe you just have a favorite fragrance that you want to fill your home with.

Whatever the reasons you are looking to buy candles online the best choice for: health, economics, and going green are soy candles.  Happy hunting!
